This Week’s Tweeted Writing Prompts (June 8-14)

Each day, we tweet fiction and poetry writing prompts to help writers loosen up and let loose. Get started with the prompts below! Follow us on twitter (@tatestreetorg) to be inspired daily, or subscribe to the blog to get a digest of the prompts every Sunday!

Poetry

Monday: Craft an epigram describing how you feel in your shoes today.
Tuesday: Write a poem about where you are without saying anything about the look of the place.
Wednesday:  Take one of your poems and cut out its heart. Reshape it into another poem. Does it send the same message?
Thursday: Try to personify a childhood note in a poem.
Friday: At what moment are you your most vulnerable? craft a free verse on that feeling.
Saturday: What was your favourite children’s book? Craft a poem inspired by it’s core moral story.
Sunday: Write a poem where every line starts with the same word or phrase.

Fiction

Monday: Create a 500-word character study on an aging super hero.
Tuesday: Take a paragraph to describe the strawberries without the words tart, seedy, red or firm.
Wednesday: Take a foreign story, distill it to the major plot points and write a short piece using what you find….
Thursday: Write two letters from two different characters to the other.
Friday: It’s Flash Fiction Friday! Today, write 300 words on the person standing in the middle of a road at night.
Saturday: As the last match goes out in the forest, the protagonist turns to their companion and says…
Sunday: Take your character through his or her typical Sunday routine.  What are the highlights? What do they dread?
